We did it!

l to r: me (Elspeth/Tek Har), Guru Meher, Deirdre/Durga Devi
This weekend was a fantabulous one, thanks to the experience of three soul-stirring Kundalini Yoga workshops with Guru Meher, who flew in to Trinidad on Friday for the first time. Inspiring, elevating, transforming, energising and catalytic are just a few of the words that come to mind for what was delivered, experienced and shared by all.

The name we came up with for these workshops (Manifesting Miracles) is exactly what happened. We (me, Guru Meher and Durga Devi), the workshop organisers, put out the workshop flyer at the beginning of January this year—unavoidably "late", yes, but trusting that what is to be will be. Had we given in to the fear of "there's not enough time for this to happen", we—and those who attended the three workshops—would not have had this great experience. The sum total of all of this reminds me of Jesus feeding the multitudes with just a few loaves of bread and some fish. The moral of the story is: do not look at what you have as "not being enough" (time, money, equipment, etc). What is to happen will and can happen and what you have will either multiply or turn out to be just enough to manifest the intention. Just go for it.
Ananda Mahi
The first two workshops (9 a.m. - midday and 2 - 5 p.m.) were held at Ananda Mahi on the way up to Maracas. These were, respectively:

"More Love, More Money" - direct your desires to create satisfaction, contentment and fulfillment of your life purpose.  (The fact is, having more love, more money or more anything starts inside first, with gratitude and the subsequent realisation of prosperity—that what you have already is enough to enable you to be you. With this realisation, more comes).

"Emotional Liberation" - Harness the intense energy of your feelings. Transform anxiety, anger, depression and trauma into allies for healing and success.

The all-day Sunday workshop (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) was held at Anjali Studios in Maraval. The subject was: "Your Life Questions Answered" - Learn to quickly and reliably consult your personal Guru—the Divine Soul.

The names of the workshops and any account of them that I attempt to give won't justify the actual experience. Suffice it to say, I would suggest to anyone reading this, that whenever there are Kundalini Yoga workshops being offered, be open to attending. You will be there for a reason, because there inevitably will be something for you. I went to a great one about three weeks ago led by a Kundalini Yoga teacher from Toronto. Again, an inspiring, elevating, transforming experience for all who were present.

The perfect end to the Sunday workshop—all of us sitting around the pool . . . where a ripple from one foot moving in the water travels across the water like the vibration of a thought, feeling or intention, to touch someone else. A reminder of how powerful we are and of how wisely and lovingly we must use this power.

Excerpt from MARGARET (Daisy Chain)

She motioned her head toward the window.

The typing stopped.  She heard David's chair scrape back, his feet come padding down the corridor. He stood in the doorway, unshaven, hair like bush, coffee cup in hand.

"Finished?' she asked, smiling.

"No. Just going to get a refill."

"Stay a while. I've got us free front row seats to a great concert."

"When? Tonight?"

She motioned her head toward the window. "No. Now."

David looked blank. "What are you talking about?"

"Not hearing it?"

"Listen." She closed her eyes. It was her favourite simple thing to do every morning before getting out of bed. Tune in to the birds.

Eyes still closed, she listened to him amble down the hallway to the kitchen.

Car with bumper sticker outside of friend's apartment, Toronto, 2009

A while ago I was reading the blog post of a friend who recently returned from a short stint in Toronto.  I understood her feelings.

Lately "Toronto" and "Canada" have been coming up a lot. A good friend of mine, like a bolt out of the blue, is moving up to Halifax with her husband and children. Late last year her husband got through with a new job, so the move was very sudden. Then yesterday I was talking to another friend who is on the verge of moving to Toronto with her husband and daughter. Everyone who is moving has a spirit of excitement, newness, courage and hope about them. It's a new life and, whether or not they're 100% ready for it, what choice is there when the option presents itself so strongly?

In the words of The Clash: Should I stay or should I go?

Excerpt from CLARA (Daisy Chain)

. . She caresses the daisy nearest to her. Its petals and stem feel fragile. With one snap of her fingers she could break it and change its life for ever. And she would get away with it, too. The other daisies would be witnesses, but they wouldn't be able to come running after her. She would leave, go to work, tend to customers as though nothing had happened. No one would notice the green stains on her fingers. No one would smell the grassy perfume on her clothes. People would walk through the park and never hear the daisies discussing the incident because daisies don't talk.
But she would never do that. Break a daisy.

Excerpt from MRS. MARTIN (Daisy Chain)

After work, he would ride back to the library to meet her. He would push his bicycle along beside them as he walked her home. Three miles is far to trek with arthritic knees, but she was worth the pain.
At the time she lived alone in a small apartment on the second floor of an unpainted four-storey building in a rough neighbourhood, Martin called it. Young men loitered by the corner, streetlights did not work, garbage stank to high heavens and rats the size of puppies frequently ran across the road.  Either that, or they sat heavily on the steps, like pets waiting for their owners.

Follow Daisy Chain

Yesterday I set up a page for Daisy Chain on Facebook and posted the first excerpt. Over the duration of time that the print book is in production, I will post frequent excerpts (with images) to whet your appetite. N.B. The images will not be included in the print book.

If you have a Facebook account, you can "like" the Daisy Chain page and get the updates in your stream. If not, you can access the updates via this blog, since I'll be embedding this box in the sidebar.

From my first batch of Raw Golden Milk

I love boiled Golden Milk, but this raw Golden Milk that I made the other day was also fantastic, in a different way.

For the "milk" part I used sunflower seeds, blended in water until they form a thick creamy liquid. You can either use the "milk" like that (if you like tasting the gritty bits as you drink) or you can strain it for a smoother taste.

My Spirit is a strong and beautiful Spirit.
She is with me always,
So that I am not led astray.
Where my Spirit is,
There I am.
Who my Spirit is,
That I am.
My Spirit is Love
My Spirit is Trust
My Spirit is Innocence
My Spirit is Wisdom.
My Spirit is True, above all, to my Self.
My Spirit moves me to be as I am.
My Spirit trusts me to be as I am.
And so I am.
Who knocks against my Spirit shall not enter.
Who moves with my Spirit moves with me also.
