Lynn, the smoke was that thick because I was burning two incense sticks near to the trunk of the tree. The breeze therefore must have had only one direction to blow the smoke in (i.e. the trunk deflected it), so there was no dissipation. It's clear because the footage was clear, the sun (lighting) was bright and the shadows contrasty ... and I added a tad of extra contrast to the footage to highlight that difference.
